Written & Photographed by Caroline Martin

CAULIFLOWER (FALL VEGGIES)

Cauliflower is a cool season crop that loves consistently cool weather.  Learn the best ways to plant it, keep it alive and eventually harvest it!

Can it be grown in containers?

Yes!  It is best to grow cauliflower from transplants and have them planted 18-24 inches apart.  Make sure your container is large enough to allow for this spacing.  Be sure to use a rich and nutrient soil as well.

How long does it take to grow?

Most varieties of Cauliflower mature in about 65 days, but some can take up to 120 days if started from seed.

How much sun does it need?

Cauliflower loves FULL sun.  Up to 6 hours a day is ideal.

What varieties do you have in stock?

Strange’s West Broad carries (while supplies last):

Candid Charm: This variety is easy to grow and can also stand warmer weather better than others.  The sturdy leaves protect the curds of the plant.

We also carry a variety of cauliflower seeds, like the Chef’s Choice Blend, if you prefer to start there:
