Strange’s has a position opening for a full-time floral customer service associate at the Mechanicsville location. The Floral Customer Service Associate is responsible for maintaining outstanding customer service per company standards and receiving/processing sales efficiently through POS systems. Job Responsibilities

• Issues receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers

Houseplant Team Lead

Strange’s is seeking a full time team lead for the short pump houseplant department. The Houseplant Department Team Lead (HDL) is responsible for all care and maintenance of houseplant products to include plants, hard goods, and small ceramics.

Scheduling: 5 days/week including at least 1 weekend day

Qualifications: The HDL team member should have a collection of houseplants of their own with great excitement in teaching others about the general care of aroids, succulents, cacti, low light plants, epiphytes, and carnivorous plants!

Job Responsibilities:

Waters, fertilizes, spaces, prunes and maintains inventory of house plant department

Frequently processes sales/COG reports

Tracks sales trends on an ongoing basis and predicts sales potential alongside the GH Department Assistant

Assists customers and presents them with product information

Communicates frequently with vendors, brokers and growers

Monitors and maintains safety in the houseplant area

Maintains correctness of product tags

Investigates and determines what/how/why material came in incorrectly or damaged

Assists in training new houseplant department staff

Assists in purchasing, processing and organizing ceramic pots and houseplant products

Actively participates in the IPM programs alongside greenhouse team management

This team member is responsible for assisting customers and maintaining product within the annuals & houseplants department. The essential candidate enjoys getting their hands dirty, exudes exceptional customer service and loves to learn.

**This position requires working in a greenhouse environment in hot or humid conditions for up to 8 hours at a time year round, standing for longer periods of time, as well as lifting up to 30 pounds on a frequent basis. The essential candidate has experience working with blooming annuals and houseplants.

Scheduling : Candidates must be able to work day shifts between the hours of 8 AM and 6 PM 5 days a week.

• Assists customers and presents them with product information

Strange’s has a position opening for a full-time Groundskeeper at the Short Pump Garden Center. This team member is responsible for performing routine grounds keeping and building maintenance as well as assisting the Nursery Manager with day-to-day Nursery department operations. The essential candidate has experience operating grounds machinery/equipment.

Scheduling : Monday – Friday 8 AM – 5 PM

Job Responsibilities

• • Cuts lawn, trims and edges around walks, flower beds, walls, etc.
  • Plants flowers, trees and shrubs based on management direction and maintains established garden beds
  • Prunes shrubs and trees
  • Spreads fertilizers and applies herbicides
  • Removes snow and ice from building walkways and steps; rake leaves, clean and sweep litter
  • Maintains grounds equipment/machinery (i.e. forklifts, scissor lifts, and tractors) and ensures that all equipment is in good working condition
  • May perform minor repairs and maintenance procedures on equipment utilized in grounds keeping
  • May perform minor repairs and maintenance procedures on buildings and greenhouses
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management (i.e., snow and trash removal)
  • Assists in applying whitening to greenhouse glass during warm seasons
  • Assists in the preparation for boiler inspections and repairs

Floral Receiver

Strange’s has a position opening for a Floral Receiver. The Receiver is responsible for checking in and distributing all new shipments of floral products along with general floral inventory management.

The essential candidate has exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and communicates well across multiple teams.

Prior experience working in a warehouse preferred but not required.

**Candidates must have a valid drivers license, be able to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis, and be willing to operate a forklift.

Scheduling: Applicants must be able to work Tuesday-Saturday 8 AM – 5 PM every week.

Job Responsibilities

• Unloads, cuts and processes fresh flowers for distribution
• Completes various preparation and inventory duties (I.e. cleans flower buckets, flower coolers, tracks floral dumpage etc.)
• Monitors daily warehouse activity by keeping clear records as goods enter and leave the warehouse
• Organizes materials on shelves, racks and bins according to warehouse layout
• Completes general landscape maintenance to include cutting grass, weed eating, and updating garden beds
