Wedding Flowers FAQ

How soon do I need to book the flowers for my wedding?

We generally recommend that you arrange a consultation 2-6 months prior to your wedding. Visit our Appointment page, or call or visit any of our locations, listed on our About Us page, to set up an appointment. It is important for you to deliberate upon the basics before meeting with a wedding consultant. You are always welcome to visit any of our florist locations to form ideas by looking through our floral design books and to ask general questions in preparation for your wedding consultation.

What should I bring to the consultation?

In order to determine how many flowers your wedding will require, you first need to select your bridal party and any color schemes you plan on using. In addition to the bridal party, one also should consider how many guests will attend the reception, so the appropriate number of centerpieces can be arranged. In addition to the seated tables, a bride needs to consider the amount of reception space she has available and whether or not she should consider having custom designed pieces for the cake table, food tables, or any other areas at the reception site. Any pictures of flowers, bouquets or arrangements you like will be helpful to the wedding consultant so she can make suggestions to turn your dreams into a reality.

How much should I budget for my wedding flowers?

Strange’s works with each bride individually to create designs to enhance each wedding regardless of budget. Prices are dependent on the flowers themselves, the quantity, and the seasonality. Consultants can make recommendations to create arrangements that will achieve your desired look while remaining within your budget.

Does Strange’s deliver flowers to wedding ceremonies and receptions?

Absolutely! We would be more than happy to assist any bride who desires delivery and setup of her wedding flowers. Strange’s delivers to all wedding ceremony and reception sites within the Metro Richmond area. For delivery outside the Metro area please call to discuss in greater detail with a wedding consultant.

Who wears flowers?

Traditionally all members of the bridal party including: the groom, groomsmen, parents (of both parties), grandparents, ring bearers, mistress or master of ceremonies, officiants, ushers, musicians, and any other honored guests wear flowers. While it is always thoughtful to order flowers for all of these people, it has become more common for the individual bride to decide who she will single out and honor with the gift of a corsage or boutonniere.
