Snake Plant Description
The snake plant has a place in house plant history, right next to the neanthebella palm and the spider plant. These are some of the oldest and easiest to grow houseplants. The snake plant's severe upright form and the ability to take abuse make it a very easy plant to care for.
Also known as the mother-in-law's tongue, the snake plant can be poisonsous if eaten. The juice inside the leaves can cause a person's airway to swell shut. It is best to keep this plant away from curious children.
Snake Plant Care Light Low to medium light. Bright or direct light will burn the plant.
Watering Keep the soil dry to the touch but not so dry that it pulls away from the pot.
Pruning None really needed.
Repotting Repot when the stems have filled the top of the pot or when the pot breaks from the size of the root ball. When you repot a snake plant, be sure to pull out any dead stems and cut away any dead roots. The plant can also be divided at this time.
