Interactive demonstrations include fairy and container gardening, bonsai, and free orchid re potting. Kids can create an art project with the Children’s Museum’s mascot Seymour, from 10 am – 2 pm on Sunday.

Saturday
9:00 am – Strange’s Garden Forum
From annuals to vegetables and everything in between, our panel experts are ready to answer all of your gardening questions. Enjoy complimentary coffee and donuts, while Strange’s Certified Horticulture experts help resolve your gardening dilemmas.

10:15 am – Boxwood Care
Modern-day gardeners are rediscovering boxwood, the backbone of many landscapes. They are evergreen, drought tolerant and deer resistant. Boxwood have been part of the family tradition at Saunders Brothers for over 60 years. Join the Saunders Brothers team for an expert discussion on boxwood care.

11:30 am – Growing Trees for Life
How to plant and care for a tree in your yard can be over whelming. Patrick Goff, a certified arborist with Arborscapes LLC, will walk you through the steps from selecting the correct tree to proper planting, pruning and care, to ensure your tree will last a lifetime.

12:30 pm – Deer Resistant Plants
Is your yard becoming a gourmet snack spot for hungry deer? Find out what plants you can choose to keep deer from nibbling. Craig Bradley from Monrovia Growers will introduce plant materials which discourage deer from dining in your yard.

1:30 pm – Landscaping for the Homeowner
Is sprucing up the yard on your to do list this year? Not sure how to get started? Join Mary Petres, owner of Manchester Gardening, to discuss landscape solutions that can make an impact. Questions are welcome!

2:30 pm – Introduction to Bonsai
The art of bonsai, simply stated, is a horticultural past time requiring no more than a measure of common garden sense, mixed with patience. The Richmond Bonsai Society’s, Thomas Sones will demonstrate the basic techniques needed to start you r own bonsai art.

3:30 pm – Bringing Birds to Your Backyard
Bird watching is a wonderful way to enjoy your outdoor space. Rita Shutz (The Mail Ma’am) is a local birding expert who will show you how to attract birds to your yard, and how to keep them coming back. From planting bird habitats, to watering and feeding, Rita will give you tips to keep your feathered friends happy.

4:15 pm – Moles, Voles and Critter Controls
Are you tired o f planting something only to see it disappear almost overnight? Have you ever stepped into your yard only to sink down in a soft spot? If you are tired of seeing tunnels in your lawn, Strange’s Tom Rush has the organic solutions for you!

11:30 am – Herbs for your Health
Growing herbs at home is fun, economical, and also good for your health! Nicole from Lavender Fields will explain the many healthy uses and benefits for herbs in your everyday life.

12:30 pm – Container Gardening Success
Container gardening is a wonderful way to get seasonal color into small spaces. Our container designer Susan, will teach you how to create your own perfect garden oasis to enjoy year round.

1:30 pm – Lawn Care Made Easy
Let Anthony Koch, from Wyatt Quarles, show you how easy it is to be a turf expert. From weed control, to fertilization, Anthony will give you all the tips needed to grow a lush green lawn.

2:30 pm – Growing Backyard Vegetables
Want to try growing your own vegetables but don’t know where to begin? Our greenhouse manager, Sunni, will show you how easy it is to get produce from your yard to the table.
